December Year in Review – 2025 in Steel: A Look Back at Our Projects, People and Progress

As 2025 comes to a close, Extreme Steel Inc. looks back on a year defined by progress, recognition and the strength of the people who keep this company moving forward. The past twelve months brought major milestones across our operations, our digital presence and our industry standing. More importantly, they highlighted the commitment, precision and work ethic that continue to shape who we are and the work we deliver.

This year proved once again that growth is not a moment, it is a mindset.

A Year of Industry Recognition

One of the most significant achievements of 2025 was ESI’s rise on Engineering News-Record’s (ENR) Top 600 Specialty Contractors list. We moved from #503 in 2024 to #440 in 2025, a jump of more than sixty spots. Even more telling, ESI earned a place among ENR’s Top 20 Firms in Steel.

This recognition reflects a simple truth. When our team shows up, they show up ready. Ready to think ahead. Ready to solve problems. Ready to deliver steel with accuracy and care.

“Being named one of the top 20 steel firms in the country and climbing more than 60 spots in just one year, is a direct result of the grit, discipline and passion our team brings to every project,” says Robert Pelham, President and CEO. His message captures what powered this rise, trust in our processes, belief in our people and a vertically integrated model that keeps quality and accountability at the center.

Strengthening Our Foundation

2025 also marked the continued integration of Superior Iron Works into ESI’s operations. The added fabrication capacity, expanded workforce and new technical capabilities strengthened every part of our delivery chain. Today, our combined teams support a more diverse and demanding lineup of project types across the Mid-Atlantic.

Alongside that operational growth, ESI announced a strategic recapitalization this fall. The new senior facility secured through a leading asset-management partner positions us for the next chapter. It fuels investment in people, technology, equipment, acquisitions and facility expansion. Most importantly, it keeps ESI ready for larger, more complex work while protecting the standards our clients count on.

A New Website for a New Era

This year also brought the launch of our new website, a cleaner and more modern platform built to reflect who we are today and the scale of work we deliver. The updated site provides clearer insight into our services, showcases our project portfolio and highlights our people and capabilities. It gives clients, partners and future employees a better look at the precision, safety and discipline behind our craft.

The new site also reinforces our identity, American-made work, built with care, backed by a team that knows what it takes to get the job done right.

Projects That Define Our Craft

Across Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C., our field teams delivered steel for projects that demanded accuracy, speed and strong coordination. Our work spanned everything from historic restorations in downtown corridors to mission-critical facilities and high-performance structures across the region.

These projects reminded us what sets ESI apart:

  • In-house detailing that shortens schedules.
  • Fabrication shops with the right tools and the right people running them.
  • Field crews trained to work with precision and communicate under pressure.
  • A commitment to safety that guides every lift and every weld.

From start to finish, 2025 showed the strength of a vertically integrated model built to handle complexity.

Powered by Our People

The most important part of this year’s story is the workforce behind it. Our teams grew stronger across the shop, the field and in leadership. We continued to support apprenticeship programs, invest in training and provide opportunities that build long-term careers.

This year, we saw the impact of that work firsthand. Employees stepped into new roles, mentored new apprentices and strengthened the culture that makes Extreme Steel a place where people build more than steel. They build futures.

Looking Ahead

As we move into 2026, Extreme Steel is ready for what comes next. With stronger capacity, new resources and national recognition, we are positioned to support the next wave of construction across the Mid-Atlantic and beyond.

More importantly, we remain committed to the same values that have guided us for twenty-five years: precision, accountability, teamwork and American excellence.

Thank you to our clients, partners and employees for a year defined by progress and shared purpose. Here’s to a strong year ahead and to continuing to build the structures that move communities forward.
