His expertise in strategic planning, sales and marketing and organizational development contributes to his track record for driving business success.
Robert proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where his leadership philosophy was shaped by discipline, teamwork and accountability—values that continue to guide his approach today.

A seasoned executive with four decades of experience in construction management, steel fabrication and structural steel operations, Matt strengthens the ESI dedication to excellence throughout the organization. From project management and operational performance to driving growth, Brady advances the team’s commitment to exceeding client expectations.
Matt’s career spans all aspects of business operations as he draws upon expertise developed in overseeing major projects across the Washington Metro Area, leading teams through complex initiatives and ensuring high standards in safety, quality and client satisfaction. Recognized as an expert in strategic planning, workforce development and operations management, Matt is instrumental in driving business success.
Matt holds multiple industry certifications, including a Class A Contractors License and 6G Welding Certification. His leadership is defined by a strong focus on teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement.
Weston S. Johnson
Vice President of Operations
With over two decades of experience in steel construction, Wes plays a key leadership role, bringing unmatched expertise in project management, fabrication and field operations. Known for his ability to lead teams through complex projects, Wes is instrumental in ensuring efficiency, safety and client satisfaction across all phases of construction.
Wes began his career at Alliance Steel and Fabrications, Inc. in 2001, serving as an estimator and project manager. Over 19 years, he helped grow the company’s capabilities, overseeing residential, commercial, municipal and highly sensitive federal and military projects throughout the DMV. His knowledge spans detailing, safety management, fabrication processes, erection and business operations, making him a valuable resource and mentor to colleagues.
Since joining Extreme Steel in 2020, Wes has continued to elevate team performance, fostering collaboration and maintaining strong contractor relationships. His leadership is defined by a commitment to high standards, teamwork and delivering consistent results.
Derek Stiefel
VP Operations
Derek Stiefel is a seasoned management professional with extensive experience in the architectural and structural steel industry. As VP of Operations, he is recognized for implementing best-in-class safety practices and achieving peak team performance. His strategic leadership drives operational efficiencies as he oversees all aspects of Extreme Steel Inc.’s operations across its two facilities in Winchester, VA.
For over two decades, Derek has managed projects at ESI totaling over $68 million. He has risen to a leadership position through his meticulous attention to detail, commitment to excellence, and dedication to enhancing the company’s operational capabilities and market presence. Derek is also committed to workforce growth, integrating skill development into daily operations to nurture the company’s future leaders.

Beginning his career as a union electrician with Local 26, Jeremiah quickly transitioned into business ownership, founding American Electrical Solutions and later American Spray Liners. His track record includes successful business exits and leadership roles in sectors ranging from construction to waste management. Known for his honesty, drive, and “get-it-done” mentality, Jeremiah is instrumental in positioning Extreme Steel as a leading provider in the DMV region.
